Treat yourself this Saturday!

These days, you don't have to go far to meet someone who's taking the time to look after their body.

As the quality and nutritional value of our everyday eatables get increasingly called into question, it's getting more and more necessary to do it, too.

Take a look at the packaging of the products that line the shelves of your local supermarket and you'll see detailed information of the fats, sugars, carbohydrates and more which go into the food you're buying.

Meanwhile, online recipes carefully count calories and offer healthy alternatives in their ingredients lists. Every pleasure has it's counterweight of downsides written all over it!

Thankfully, Vedic wisdom teaches us that it's not just our physical health which makes us happy; there are a whole host of subtle - and more powerful - factors which contribute to our overall wellbeing.

As such, our diet isn't just what we eat and drink; its also what we watch, listen to and read, as well as the places we visit and, crucially, the people we spend time with.

The most attractive items on any menu are the rare gems which promise to be both healthy and indulgent. It's the magic combination! Bhakti yoga offers exactly that: indulgences of the heart which are both a salve for the soul and a treat to truly savour. Not easy to find in the material world, but available in abundance when we come together to chant, dance and discuss the higher things in life.

With all this in mind, we're very happy to say that our dear friend and travelling monk Dayananda Swami will be coming to Kent this weekend to share the wisdom and insights which he has gained from decades of dedicated spiritual practice. He's a warm and humble soul with a great sense of humour who is always loved by everyone he meets whenever he visits.

So why not get yourself down to the Umbrella Centre this Saturday and give yourself a treat that you really deserve?!
